I have always used Meguiar's products and been happy. I run across some guys that use Griots Garage products that look awesome (Jeff). My main concern is the ingredients that other products such as Meguiar's use. What do you guys use and why? What do you recommend personally? Since I missed the detail day, I wanted to find out your thoughts?

We use Zaino now. We used to use the Pro Meguires from paint shops (natural rubber coloured bottles) and then we had blitzwax, 1grand and p21s I think? Now Zaino.

You'll have to ask Dawn how she likes it..she's the only one who's waxed our cars with it. I know it looks great when she's done

We bought it at the HorsePower Store in Plano. There are other sources but this is the most convenient.

I prefer the 3M line of products for the following reasons:

1. 3M is a company known for innovation.
2. 3M makes many products used by body shops and thus knowns the market.
3. 3M waxes go on easy, come off easy.
4. 3M offers a line just as extensive as the other big concours brands.
5. It lasts quite a while (beads after 5 mos)

I don't have anything negative to say about Zaino... the application is easy (the longer you can leave it on, the nicer it gets) and it holds up really well. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I use a combination. Zymol wash and cleaner wax, Griots polish (No 3), Maguiars carnuba, and Meguiars quick detail. All my tools, brushes, etc are Griots. I plan on eventually replacing everything w/ Griots b/c I've been pretty impressed w/ what I've used from them. Plus I've heard the Zymol you get here off the shelf is not the same as 'real Zymol' (don't know if that's true?). Griots polish made all the difference between a car that looked great and one that is oh-my-God.

When's the next detailing day? I'd like to meet some of you sometime!

It's true there are two version of Zymol. One is made in Europe and one in Asia. The Kmart/Walmart/Sams/etc form is the lower quality version.

I like one 3M product that we've used for quite a few years; Hand Glaze. It works well for it's application but I still prefer the look and application ease (watching dawn apply ) of Zaino.

www.carcareonline.com is a good source of product and information. He's a fellow club racer (P-car) so good to support Sometimes takes a bit to receive certain things...

I think there were/are more than two versions (www.zymol.com), but basically the same on how you classify them. The cheap stuff and the more expensive stuff. There was/is aslo some that is ungodly expensive for the q-tip crowd(http://www.zymol.com/alant2.htm).

I've used the cheap-midgrade stuff, but it didn't last too long.

I find brands that use more carnuba to be better and last longer. However, I'm not in the q-tip crowd. I just want something that keeps a shine without a bad build up or deteriorates the paint. I have found fairly decent results with Mothers and McGuires and the can seems to last a little longer.

My Honda likes Meguiars, but the Audi does better with Hand Glaze and Blitz wax. It lasts (beads) a lot longer. I haven't tried the Zaino process, but make sure you read up on it before you dive in. I buy my stuff from www.carcareonline.com. Never had a problem (other than you have to call or fax your order). As James said, he has good information as well.

These are great comparisons. I think, since it is well overdue, to try the Zaino on the cars. Is it available locally?

I tried to wax my truck last night, but can see it's going to need to be polished first. CRAP! I have a hard enough time finding a block of time large enough to wash and wax it. Now I need to polish it, too? I'll need to do it piece by piece.
