I spent several hours at Zinks Garage yesterday as Steve diagnosed my 16795/P0411 ongoing CEL problem. We had previously removed and repaired my busted SAI pump, and also eliminated both the Combi valve and N112 Solenoid valve....so what was the problem...a hose.
Steve discovered that the plastic connector hose from the pump to the combi had a small crack which was invisible to my eyes even with a flashlight. As an aside, for P0411 problem resolutions, this is critical as there was plenty of air being pushed through the hose to the combi valve when measured by the bare hand so there was no reason to suspect the hose was bad...but just not enough for the sensors to say "system OK." The leaks were just large enough to throw the code. Upon removal, we discovered it had a previous repair with tape and due to age it had become brittle. It literally broke into 4 pieces in our hands because of other unseen cracks.
Then, we jumped into his S4 and drove all over south FW in search of large enough heat shrink wrap to repair....now when was the last time you were at an Indy or Main garage and they did that for you.
